French Berry Toast

This tasty breakfast contains whole grains, low fat protein and antioxidant-rich berries – making it a great start to the day. You could  also halve the quantities and have as a dessert or as a sweet treat in the afternoon.


  • 4 slices wholemeal bread
  • 3 teaspoons of cinnamon
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 4 tablespoons of skimmed milk
  • 1 teaspoon of unsalted butter
  • 4 tablespoons of fresh, frozen or tinned berries
  • 2 teaspoons of brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons of low fat natural yoghurt


  1. Beat the egg, milk, cinnamon and sugar in a bowl and dip the bread in the mixture.
  2. Heat the butter in a large frying pan and add the bread.
  3. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. Serve with a tablespoon of berries and yoghurt (optional) on each slice.
